Valhalla Outfitter's Favorite Rigs
Thinking about expanding your collection, but not sure what you need? Here are the set-ups I use based on the use case. This is a constantly evolving list, though after years in the field the equipment is pretty dialed in.
Whitetail
Generally, for whitetail, I prefer a mild recoiling cartridge with .243 being the smallest and my .30 being the largest. This means I usually reach for my old Remington 700 (.243), Benelli Lupo (6.5CM), or Henry 30-30. Larger guns will certainly do the job, but are not necessary.
For the optic, I like something with a low magnification option (down to 1x) for surprise encounters, but like to be able to stretch it out so often will have 15x-18x at the high end. Currently, this includes Leuopold and Meopta scopes.

Feral Hogs
Pretty much, whatever is handy. I like the 30-30 and use my 5.56 a lot (Sig M400). Unless I am set up for a long shot, rifle maneuverability is key. I get get on target fast with a short barrel and the 5.56 is good for getting off multiple shots when a sounder is on the run.
For longer shots to a feeder, the .243 and 6.5CM are up to the task. For night duty I use the 22-250 (only gun set up for night vision).

Turkey
For me, spring turkey hunting lets me know that old man winter is behind us. I have been told that a turkey can see your trigger finger twitch at 100 yards so concealment is key.
I used to always grab my Franchi Affinity 3 12 ga., but these days I find I often reach for my Franchi Instinct SL O/U 20 ga. You will need a call; I have used the Commander with good luck, but this year I think I might switch to a box call.
Varmints
Varmint hunting improves your marksmanship, helps the ecosystem, and is fun! I have a Tikka T3x 22-230 with a Sightmark Wraith and a Franchi Momentum Elite Varmint in 6.5CM.
You will need to camo up to fool these wily critters, some type of call, and I also like to have a shooting tripod (I am using the Primos Edge right now).
These can be long shots and there may be quite q bit of shooting if you are on a prairie dog town so making sure you have a very accurate gun is important.
